How to Store Thermal Labels So They Last

By the Label Mark-It team · Updated

Short answer: Store thermal labels somewhere cool, dry and dark, in their original packaging, and use older stock first. Direct thermal paper reacts to heat and light even before it's printed, so a hot truck or sunny window can ruin a box.

Keep them cool and dark

Heat and UV light can darken direct thermal paper. Keep boxes off windowsills and out of hot vehicles.

Keep them dry

Humidity can affect adhesives and paper. Keep rolls sealed until you need them.

Rotate stock

  • First in, first out.
  • Don't overbuy what won't be used soon.
  • Keep labels away from chemicals and solvents.
